Introducing the New Mosaic Native iOS Lightroom App!

We’re super excited to announce that the new Mosaic native iOS app has hit the Apple App Store! For current users, you’ll notice some awesome improvements. And for those setting up Mosaic for the first time… this is an exciting time to get started syncing your Lightroom images to your iOS devices.

Here’s what to expect in this new update:

1) The new Mosaic native iOS Lightroom sync app is a heck of a lot FASTER. This makes looking at your Lightroom photos a more enjoyable experience.

2) Native code means more RELIABILITY.

3) We’ve updated the LOOK, FEEL AND USABILITY. You want a beautiful way to show off your beautiful images. Mosaic is looking better than ever! This includes better transitions between photos as well as a completely redesigned search bar and menu for viewing Lightroom Folders and Collections.

4) Metadata! You can now see a photo’s filename, capture time, collection, keywords and more, right from the Mosaic app. A new desktop version is coming soon that will also start to sync other EXIF data including focal length, ISO, exposure, aperture, etc.

5) We have started caching your images (dorky way of saying we have temporarily saved the images to your device to load more quickly). The result is that photos will not have to reload when you scroll up or down. This is setting the stage for our next release which will include full offline access to Mosaic! (You can also clear your cache from the App.)

6) Mosaic will now remember your filter criteria from the previous session.

7) Say goodbye to rejected photos – Mosaic will now auto-hide the photos you’ve flagged as rejected! You can still see them but by default they are hidden.

8) New In-App messaging center. You can contact Mosaic and leave feedback directly from the Mosaic App. We want to hear from you!

9) New more colorful logo!

This is just the beginning. In the very near future, we’ll be releasing our next update that will include two-way sync! You’ll soon be able to star and flag your photos right from the Mosaic app, allowing you work on your photos wherever you are.

Logistics:

You can update to the latest version of the App directly from the App store on your iPhone or iPad. Depending on your settings in iOS 7, the new version may have automatically been updated.

You do not need to update your Mosaic desktop client. The previously updated images will be there.

The browser based access at view.mosaicarchive.com will still work although the new functionality will not be included (such as image metadata and caching).

If you run into any issues with any part of the Mosaic experience, from installing the Mosaic desktop client, Lightroom plug-In, App or account settings, we want to hear from you! Please reach out on our support page.

Please consider one of our You can upgrade from our website or directly from the iOS app using your iTunes account. This will give you more images and backup of your original raw Lightroom images.

Let us know what you think in the comments below! Please share this with your friends!

Thank you again for your support of Mosaic!

Great! You have managed to integrate your app approximately 250% better than Adobe have managed with their own Revel app :-)

    • MosaicArchive

      Thanks Henrik! Only 250% :)

      • Henrik Kurka

I guess I was a little conservative there ;) Adobe did almost get the publish service right at least.

Explain why Mosaic doesn’t allow users to remove their photos? This is my biggest issue with Mosaic.

    • MosaicArchive

Honestly, there is no malice here. Our customers / users own the photos hosted by Mosaic. This will never ever change.

We are a small team and providing a user interface to fully delete photos from our servers hasn’t bubbled to the top of the queue. After we released two-way Lightroom sync, we will add this feature.

great going guys, any idea when the two way sync will be up? Eagerly waiting for the same, upgraded to premium version mainly to do that :) not getting enough time to sit at my desk to update the keywords and stars

    • MosaicArchive

We are going as fast as we can on this! (We are very excited too!) I can tell you that we going through some bug fixing now but the code is “feature complete”. Not sure of the exact timeline but it should be relatively soon!

    This is fantastic guys! Thanks!

Obligatory “can we have this on Android too please” comment ;)

Thanks, the new app is MUCH better, but still needs some polishing. Scrolling through thousands of photos continue to be a pain since every screen takes a few seconds to populate when not it the cache (at least from Europe but on fast 100Mbit WIFI). Even those in the cache seems a bit sluggish, causing flicking when you are scrolling fast to find a photo or event. Anyway, keep improving the app and thanks for the update, looking forward to try the offline mode.

Thank you! The new version will have more caching which will improve this. The reason this wasn’t released yet is that the new caching is intertwined with the two-way sync code…. so it will keep improving!

Also, you may have a better search experience if you use your Lr folders/ collections or search using the metadata!

Thank you again for your support!

    Hi everyone, i’ve got a question…
Why, when i upload my photos from lightroom to Mosaic, it’s loosing in quality, brightness, light….? Thanks for your response :) and thanks for all the work you’ve done for us !

    • MosaicArchive

Hi Johan, Thanks for the kind words. There are a couple issues here. We are going to increase the quality of the images especially for the retina iPad and iPad mini. This is coming soon on the product roadmap. The other issue (harder to address) is matching the color profiles used by Lightroom. We try our best here but we need to put some more work into it. Can you vote up this feature in our support – feature request section. This helps us prioritize. Thanks! Best, Gerard

      • Johan DUBOIS

Thanks a lot for this fast answer :). Of course i can vote up but i didn’t find out this feature :(…

        • MosaicArchive

Not a feature per say… but certainly an improvement.
