We Won! VentureX $30K Startup Challenge

January 30, 2012 -Gerard Murphy

Please excuse this post as we gush a little bit… Last Thursday night, we participated in the first VentureX pitch contest. We showed off our “anywhere catalog access for photographers” technology and won the grand prize!

250+ people attended the event including Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors, entrepreneurs and business leaders at the abi Innovation Hub in Manchester, NH.

Over 100 companies applied to be a part of VentureX. The top 10 companies were asked to participate in a “trade show” style exhibition of their technologies last Thursday night. Each attendee to the event was provided with 5 tickets. Attendees could use these tickets to vote for their favorite company.

We invited one of our clients and friend Crystal Nadeau from Goodbrain Photographer Studio in Manchester, NH to help demonstrate our technology. We setup a makeshift photography studio in our booth and she took Head Shots to the guests as they arrived. Crystal’s camera was tethered to Lightroom. From Crystal’s computer we automatically uploaded the pictures to the Mosaic servers. We then could show the photos on a second computer and our iPad. (No, the iPad App is not ready yet, we had a makeshift demo version that we used to for the demonstration.)

A special thank you to Crystal for all of her help. She is great photographer and one of our favorite customers.

This contest was sponsored by the abi and Wasabi Ventures. We are very excited to be a part of the Wasabi family of portfolio companies. I am sure that Wasabi will help us grow and scale our business.

We are humbled to win. In addition to the $30K in prizes, it is also a great validation on our business. OK, time to stop gushing and get back to work.
